PLC HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH PROGRAM |
Friends Intent on Reaching Eternity |
Welcome to the PLC FIRE Youth Ministry page! We're so glad you stopped by. The world has a distorted view of who we are and what we should be about; and it does not match what God desires for each one of us. In Jesus, God sees each one of us as His beloved child; and through Christ, we are so much more. Each one of us is called to be so much more. As disciples of Jesus, we are called to change the world for Jesus Christ. Our goal is to help youth and families, through the Holy Spirit, do just that. FIRE youth ministry strives to prepare, nurture and equip youth and adults to be Christian leaders prepared for service, living a life of faith, beyond this time and place. Peace Lutheran Church's FIRE Youth Ministry exists to extend Jesus' love to all senior high school students, to help them grow in their relationship with the Lord, to praise and honor God in Christian service, and to care for one another. =>What do these words mean? I'm glad you asked. The above statement is the reason our youth ministry exists. This statement is built around the five purposes found in the Great Commandment of loving God and neighbor (Matthew 22:37-40); and the Great Commision of making disciples, baptizing and teaching them found in Matthew 28:19-20. =>Extend is our word for evangelism; sharing the Good News of Jesus with those who don't yet have a personal relationship with Him. "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations" (Matthew 28:19) =>Grow is our word for discipleship; the building up or strengthening of belivers in their quest to be like Christ. "Therefore let us leave the elementary doctrine of Christ and go on to maturity" (Hebrews 6:1) =>Praise and Honor are our words for worship; celebrating God's presence and honoring Him with our lifestyle. "Present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship" (Romans 12:1). =>Service is our word for ministry; meeting need with love. God has blessed every believer with special gifts to be used for ministry. "No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and His love is perfected in us" (1 John 4:12) =>Care is our word for fellowship; when youth and families are known, cared for, held accountable and encouraged in their spiritual journey. "So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God" (Ephesians 2:19) If you would like more information about FIRE Youth Ministry; or you would like more information on how to become involved in our youth ministry as a youth OR as an adult leader, please contact Pastor Tom Albertson at 308-345-2595. |
