Dear Preschool Families,
We hope you are settling into the school routine again, it seems like time just flies by!
Our website has monthly calendars and newsletters under each classes tab, so if you need an extra copy you can download it from our website. The web address is: http://plcmccook.org/creativepreschool.html
The first homework page was sent home this week and some of you aren't familiar with our "homework assignments". For each letter of the week, there is a corresponding homework assignment. These are great practice for the children and they love to bring their work back to share! Homework is a fun way for you to be a part of their preschool experience. It is NOT mandatory! The ideas on the page are just suggestions, feel free to make up your own letter of the week homework idea if you would like to!! Also, as you are working with your child on writing their name, please make sure to practice with only the first letter being capitalized and the rest of the name in lower case letters. This is how they will be expected to write it in Kindergarten and it's much easier to teach it this way in the first place than to try and change it later.
Here is a little information about our positive behavior/reward system. We will be using red and green choices to reinforce positive behavior. This year we will be using a star chart in our classroom. When your child is caught following our classroom expectations, their name will move up on our chart. Once their name reaches the star at the top they will get to pick out a little prize to put in their backpacks. Please understand that your child might not come home with a prize every day, it's going to get harder to get to the star as the year progresses. If you have any questions about this let me know.
During O week your child can wear orange on orange day if they want. Once a month the library will come in and read a few stories to our students, the kids always look forward to this day.
Looking ahead to October, "Donuts with dads" will be on Wednesday, October 7th at 11:00 am and Thursday, October 8th at 11:00 am for the morning class and 2:30 pm for the afternoon class. If dad can't make it, we'd love if a grandparent, uncle or anyone special can come and enjoy donuts with us!
